I Am Sorry

There's an old saying: "If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all." When I started this blog (as young and naive as I was), my biggest mistake was not abiding by that piece of wisdom.

Being anonymous (to some degree) allowed me to say negative, hurtful things without any real consequences. The problem is, looking back, I realize I got pretty carried away. Particularly, my comments about the overweight magician on Ellusionist (one of my first posts), Danny Hustle (a post from about a year ago), and Max Maven (more recently) were completely out of line. I have apologized before about these posts, but I feel I need to do so again - I can't apologize enough for some of these posts.

It was extremely callous and cold-hearted of me to publish the things I did, especially considering that I did not know any of them personally. In fact, months after writing the post about Danny Hustle, I actually met Danny. Having met him, I sincerely wish I could take back the negative post I wrote about him - it was ill-informed, inaccurate, and completely uncalled for. Danny is one of the sweetest and kindest guys I know and I am honored to be able to call Danny a friend. Knowing that I caused him pain creates a tremendous pain in me that I will have to deal with for a long time.

I meant for this blog to be helpful to magicians - to provide an uncensored look at an art that I am passionate about. I deviated much from that path and I am very, very sorry. Ruthlessly tearing into people for no reason is not a way to help the art, something I should have realized before I made any of the hurtful posts I did.

So, I'm going to hang up my hat for now. I'm not saying the blog is over for good, but I need to take a break and re-evaluate what I want to accomplish with this blog. The very last thing I wanted to do was hurt other magicians, so I need to stop for a while while I figure out how to avoid ever doing that again.

[NOTE: I'm in the process of deleting these horrendous and offensive posts. If I've forgotten one, please e-mail me so I can take them down.]
